Formlabs · MSLA resin 3D printer

Form 4

60 LEDs behind a 50 µm LCD, a flexible-film tank that peels each layer off gently, and resin heated before it ever hits the tank. Most Form 4 prints finish in under 2 hours. That means two or three design rounds before lunch instead of one overnight.

Pick your resins

None of the packages include resin. Grab a cartridge or two now so the printer isn't sitting in its box waiting on a second shipment. Every resin here runs in the Form 4 and the Form 4L.

General purpose

Grey Resin V5

Start here. Grey shows surface detail better than any other color, so it's the one to judge a design in.

Why Form 4

Resin printing, minus the wait

SLA has always been the process for detail and surface finish. Speed was the catch. The Form 4 fixes the speed.

One workday, two printers

Max print speed

Illustration using Formlabs' published game controller benchmark (Form 4 1h 38m, Form 3+ 10h 47m), with 20 minutes between prints to check the part and tweak the design.

Under 2 hrs

Most prints, same morning

Formlabs' own numbers: most prints finish in under 2 hours, and Fast Model Resin runs up to 100 mm/hr. A game controller housing that took 10h 47m on a Form 3+ prints in 1h 38m on the Form 4.

50 µm pixels

The whole layer cures at once

The Form 4 cures each layer through a 50 µm LCD. Every pixel lights at the same time, so a full build plate of parts takes about as long as a single part. Fill the plate and the cost per part drops.

99% reliable

Set it and walk away

An independent lab measured 99% print reliability. Six sensors watch resin temperature, resin level, print forces, and print status, and a 5MP camera lets you check on the print from your desk or your phone.

23 materials

One printer, a whole library

General purpose, tough, flexible, high-temp, flame-retardant, castable, and more: 23 Formlabs resins with print settings that already work. Need something Formlabs doesn't make? The Open Material Mode license runs third-party resins.

Speed, measured

Same parts, four printers

Formlabs printed real customer parts on a Form 4, a benchmark FDM printer, a benchmark SLA printer, and the Form 3+. The Form 4 won every one. And because the whole layer cures at once, the time barely changes whether the plate holds one part or twenty.

Who's printing on Form 4

More design iterations per day

Across Formlabs' customers the story repeats: more design rounds in a day, and fewer prints left running overnight.

Peak Design

3–4 prototype iterations a day

Peak Design used to get one or two turns on a prototype in a day. On Form 4 it's three or four, with most prints done inside an hour.

FAQ

Form 4 questions

Does the Form 4 come with resin?

No. None of the packages include resin. Add a cartridge or two in step 2 so you can print the day it arrives.

Form 4 or Form 4L?

Form 4 if your parts fit in 200 x 125 x 210mm. It's the faster, cheaper machine per part. Form 4L if you need parts up to 353 x 196 x 350mm or bigger batches in one run; it has 4.6x the build volume. Same resins, same PreForm.

Do I need the Form Wash V2 and Form Cure V2?

You can rinse by hand with the Finish Kit that comes in every package. For engineering resins, get the Form Cure V2 at minimum: tough, rigid, and high-temp resins only reach their datasheet properties after a heated post-cure.

Can I use third-party resin?

Yes, with the Open Material Mode license ($875). It's included in the Premium package.

Can I try PreForm before I buy?

Yes, and we'd tell you to. PreForm is free, no license or sign-up. Load your part, select Form 4, and you'll see the print time and resin usage for your actual geometry.

Can I finance it or buy on a PO?

Both. Apply for financing here › (the 60-second application opens on this page), or request a formal quote for your purchasing team.
