In this video, we're giving our insights and experience printing in CFPEEK -- the carbon-fiber composite version of Polyetheretherketone filament.
We primarily use and sell 3DXTech CFPEEK due to it's high-quality carbon and excellent diameter consistency: http://www.visiominer.com/materials
When it comes to PEEK printing, the biggest challenge is the warping from it's semicrystalline structure -- this stuff can pull with upwards of 20,000 PSI on the plate, making it very difficult to reign in some geometries.
However, with the addition of aerospace-grade chopped carbon fiber strands, the material has become FAR EASIER to work with. Not only is the warping greatly reduced, but the dimensional accuracy is better, surface finish is cleaner, and layer adhesion is generally improved.
However, CFPEEK may not work for all applications, due to the uncertified nature of custom composites. The base material may have all the proper certificates, but with the addition of carbon fiber, the FAA certifications go away. These can come back with specific per-part testing and certification, but it's a bit more process, so keep that in mind.
