Today, we got a special request from a client to print a hydraulic pressure coupler, which could hold up to 240 BAR -- or around 3,000 PSI.

We decided to put it to the test, with this smaller part -- the customer had previously tested regular PEEK (Polyether ether ketone) at 1300 PSI, and it failed previously. However, Carbon Fiber reinforced PEEK has some interesting properties, when 3D printed.

Firstly, the Z-axis is MUCH stronger than with any other materials we've used. We're constantly impressed with how strong it is -- borderline injection-molding strength.

Next, the carbon fill makes it much easier to print details, without as much warping, curling, or melting on small features. This allowed us to print the threads in the part itself, without the need for a screw tap.

Finally, we tested it on the pressure system. Not only did it hold up past the previous PEEK part, but it maxed out the system. Next test: 240BAR, or almost 3,500 PSI.

In this episode, you'll also see us goofing around the office a bit, as well as information on sample parts and the things that we do.

We specialize in High-Temp, High-Performance FDM 3D Printing. This technology is relatively new to the open market, and you no longer need to spend $100k+ for a system to print it.

Currently we've found the best deal on the market to be the Intamsys Funmat HT. There are other printers in the price range, but the Funmat HT shows off with it's great build quality, billet-aluminum parts, and most of all, SAFE electronics. There are a lot of things built into this machine that you simply won't find on other budget 3D printers.

If you're considering getting into Functional 3D Printing materials, check out our store at www.visionminer.com, or give us a call at 833-774-6863. We're here to help, and the industry is always evolving!

Have an awesome day!
