With PEEK, or Polyether Ether Ketone, being such a new substance to the world of industrial 3D-printing, there can be a great amount of confusion surrounding what exactly the substance is, and what relations it has to other mysterious acronyms like PEI or PEKK. What even is PEEK? Is PEEK the same thing as PAEK? What do all of these acronyms mean? Created in 1926, Imperial Chemical Industries was a chemicals manufacturer based in the United Kingdom that formulated a substance called Victrex which is now known as Polyether Ether Ketone. Victrex is now the name of an ICI-spinoff company that still manufactures PEEK to this day in the UK, but PEEK isn’t alone, nowadays.
